While very bleak, this story is a good reflection of the attitudes that many people have; believing that history books never lie, that it is impossible to live in harmony with the enemy, that it is better to fight to the death than it is to compromise, etc. Sprinkle did her best, but in a situation like this, you need more than one person to change things.
That's exactly right. There's only so much a lone person can do--even someone as special as our little Sprinkle. But at least she tried (and keeps trying).
