Not necessarily. I'm not even sure they know what 'life' is. Or, more likely, it has a very different meaning to them than it does to us. In my mind these beings are so vastly different from us they have completely alien thought processes and behaviors, which is what I was trying to highlight here. Not an easy process, admittedly ;)
I think you did a very good job highlighting their alien thought processes. They just seemed so offended by the prospect of humans/humanoids being sentient that I had assumed they wanted them gone.
I'm sure some do, but most likely don't care either way. They're disgusted/offended by the notion, but that doesn't necessarily mean they want it destroyed. More like... erm, never show me that disgusting thing again :D
