Fiction: The Wound Within, the Wound Without

Science-Fiction / 8000 words

Today, I am sending you something special.

I am not including it in this email directly, as it is longer than what I normally post. So instead, I’ve turned it into an ebook, available in either EPUB or MOBI format.

Why is this special, you ask? Because this was one of the first stories I wrote in English (there had been I think only two others before this, but the quality was subpar.)

To be more specific, I wrote this back in 1996 and it has slept on my hard drive ever since.

Well, that’s not entirely true. I did submit it to a few magazines, and it came close to getting published by Absolute Magnitude, but ultimately it didn’t fit what they were looking for at the time.

So what’s the story about? Well, here’s the blurb I wrote for it, along with the cover.

A tale of revenge and redemption in a post-apocalyptic world.

Humanity won the war against the alien invaders, but it left all the great cities of Earth devastated with half the planet's population killed.

In this post-apocalyptic world, a haunted man tracks a killer into the ruins of an alien spaceship.

As he delves deeper into the odd structure—where only madness lurks—he uncovers a well-hidden secret from the past that threatens humanity's future.

Will he untangle the plot before his demons crush him, or will he lose his sanity trying?
