I’ve been trying to decide which project to work on next. I want to do a novel, but I found a path that might get me into television. That’s an opportunity I cannot pass up, even if the door is only slightly ajar. I already have a bunch of ideas and started putting together a show bible. I’m actually pretty excited about the concept and think it’d make a great series. And if that doesn’t work out, I can easily convert this into a novel, so at least the work I’m doing won’t be for nothing!
Before I dive too deep into that project, though, I need to write two short stories. One for you guys (that I’ll send out later this month) and another I plan to submit to this year’s edition of the Baen Fantasy Adventure Awards. The former will likely be a new Reikk adventure, while the latter will be set in the same universe as “The Spheres of Sang” (the story I submitted to Baen last year that ended up as a Top 10 finalist). I already know what the story will be about (a sort of mix between “Romeo & Juliet” and “The thief of Bagdad”) and have the outline all worked out, so it should be a quick one to write.
Not much else to report for now.
Hope you all have a lovely day!
Recently published stories
In December, I released my first collection of short stories. To Worlds of Wonder contains 15 science-fiction tales, two of which are brand new (the others were all originally published on Substack). If you’d like to support me, buying a copy is a great way to do that! The two originals are:
“Down a Dark Road” (a man is caught in a time loop—how will he break out?)
“Confessions of an Artificial Intelligence” (the future from the perspective of an AI)
Here’s a list of the stories I published in 2024 outside of Substack:
“The Waystation” in Tome of Terrors (horror anthology)
“The Battle of Braxia” in Laser Cannons & First Contact (space opera anthology)
“Strength of the Gwich’in,” “The Scales of Death,” and “Under Siege” (as Steffen Larken) in Time of the Champions (epic fantasy anthology in the “Dragon Dice” game setting)
If you like my writing, please consider buying a copy of my novel, upgrading to a paid subscription, or making a Paypal or Ko-fi donation. As an independent author, any of these would help a lot!
