So guys! I have some pretty exciting news.
First off, the “Time of the Champions” anthology came out as expected on July 7. You can still grab your copy if you haven’t already through this link (multiple platforms available). As a reminder, this one includes three epic fantasy short stories I penned under the Steffen Larken name set in the Dragon Dice game’s setting.
Last month, I mentioned another upcoming anthology with a novella I wrote (under my real name this time). “The Battle of Braxia” is a an epic space opera with spaceships and rebels and fights and suspense and all kinds of other cool things! You really should check it out, I think it’s one of my best pieces ;) Well, the anthology it’s in, “Laser Cannons & First Contact,” came out on July 31st and you can grab it here! There are also stories by Poul Anderson and Philip K. Dick in this one, so hey, what are you waiting for?
In other news, I submitted a short story to the Baen Fantasy Adventure Awards back in April. And while I did not win one of the three prizes, I made it into the Top 10 finalists! That’s pretty awesome, considering it’s Baen we’re talking about. So now I’m submitting this story to magazines and hoping one of them will buy it. Incidentally, “The Spheres of Sang” takes place in a new setting I’ve been developing for a series of epic fantasy novels I’m dying to write! It’s all very exciting, really.
And to top it all off, I’ll have another story published at the end of this month! You might have read this one, as I published it on my Substack a couple of years ago: “The Waystation.” It’s a weird little story of a man who goes looking for his missing sister in a twisted version of Paris. There will be a Kickstarter for this one, but I can’t share the link yet—not sure when it’ll launch. I’ll post it on Notes when I know more, so make sure to follow me there if you don’t already. In the meantime, I can show you this cool graphic the publisher made.
No pre-order link for this one yet, sadly. But I’ll keep you posted, of course.
Oh! I almost forgot. The publisher put together a promotional group to help launch the space opera anthology above. Whether you’ve bought it already or not, please do take a look as it lists a bunch of novels written by the authors participating (yous truly included). If you like one of these authors, there’s a chance you’ll enjoy some of their other work as well. I’ll include the group’s banner graphic at the bottom of this email.
Coming up this month
I’m working on a science-fiction short titled “Yellow Sky.” I hope to get it done within the next two weeks and share that with you all.
If you like my writing, please consider buying a copy of my novel, upgrading to a paid subscription, or making a Paypal or Ko-fi donation. As an independent author, any of these would help a lot!
