Hello, hello, fellow citizens of the Xen’in Multiverse!
Do I have news for you today…
First off, I would like to announce the upcoming launch of my second Substack! Been thinking of doing this for a while. This one will be a non-fiction newsletter where I will share film and TV-related content (mostly reviews). It’s called Screen Views and the first post is scheduled for release this coming Friday (June 9th) (a review of “Out of the past,” a pretty cool 1947 film noir starring Robert Mitchum and Kirk Douglas).

Second, I just want to say, the Substack fiction community is on fire! It’s thriving with activity, always growing, with new cool ventures popping out of the woodwork everyday it seems like.
For instance:
The Library attempts to archive every novel available on the platform, regardless of genre, whether it’s behind a paywall or free-for-all, serialized or not;
Talestack News is sort of like Substack’s own newspaper (except online) (except only about fiction) and covers any newsworthy information pertaining to the Substack fiction community. It’s pretty damn cool, if I do say so myself.
The List compiles every known fiction Substack in the universe. If you know of one that is missing, make sure to tell Erica Drayton.
In other news, I’ve been posting 2 to 4 chapters of my serial for some weeks now. The reason for this is that I plan to switch (for a while at least) to a rapid-release schedule on Royal Road in an attempt to draw more readers. However, since Substack needs to always be ahead of Royal Road, that meant I had to speed things up on here as well. Normal scheduling (one chapter per week) should resume in October.
Finally, and perhaps more importantly, I’ve decided to make the first 75 chapters of my space opera serial available for free. That’s the entire first book of the series. Check it out and let me know what you think! It all starts here:
Coming up this month
Once again, there will only be one story posted this month.
“The day the monsters came” is a Science-Fantasy story I wrote earlier this year. It was meant as a crossover with another author’s universe. The project fell through but I’ve decided to post it here after removing details specific to the other universe and, of course, with the other author’s consent.
I still need to change the ending, but it’s mostly ready to go.
I expect to post this on June 21st.
“Write 6 Books in a Year Challenge”
Update #5
As some of you already know from Notes, I finally completed a novel! My first for the year.
Only five more to go! Ahem.
This one is Book 2 in my Through the Stars, Darkly series, which I started serializing a few weeks back. I was going to start on Book 3 right away, but then realized I didn’t need to have that one done until October. That leaves me time to work on something else, so I thought I’d get cracking on the sequel to Everlife, for a change of pace.
But then I remembered I still have to build a buffer of stories for Substack! So I’m taking a couple of weeks now to focus on that before I start on novel #2, and I’ll take another two to write more stories after I’ve completed that novel.
That’s all for now.
See you next month!

I’m glad that accounts like The Library, Talestack News, And The List exist on Substack. Fiction writers really need all the support they can get!
